Meeting at Rifugio Sapienza

Meet your private volcanological guide at the cable car station at Rifugio Sapienza on Etna's south side.

Cable car to 2,500m

Ascend by cable car from Rifugio Sapienza to the intermediate station at 2,500m.

4x4 vehicle to 2,900m

Continue by 4x4 off-road vehicle from 2,500m to 2,900m on the volcanic terrain.

Guided hike to 3,000m

One-hour guided hike from 2,900m to approximately 3,000m at the edge of the active craters.

Active summit craters

Explore the edge of Etna's active summit craters with your guide. Helmets provided for safety.

Return by 4x4 and cable car

Descend by 4x4 vehicle back to the cable car station, then ride the cable car down to Rifugio Sapienza.
